Was it house pride, or a need for control that made Hermione dream of being Head Girl? She thought that if she could find where House Pride lived, then perhaps she could answer that question.
"Gryffindor..." She muttered, tapping the large ruby filled hour glass. "Would I want it so bad, if I was with you..." She added, stepping sideways in front of the Hufflepuff hourglass.

Lily was unsure of where she was heading at this point. She had been wondering around the castle for the past half an hour with no particular destination. She just walked and walked, wondering where her feet were taking her. Was she growing bored f this magnificent castle?
Nah. There was always something to do at Hogwarts, whether meeting new people or just exploring. She reached the four very big hourglasses. One for each of the four houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. A bushy haired girl stood at the foot of her house glass. she immediately recognized her as the smartest girl of their year, Hermione Granger.
Lily approached Hermione, "Hey" she said smiling as soon as she was close enough to her.

Hermione, who was not used be being caught in such an intellectually weak state, spun in surprise, her eyes meeting those of a red headed Hufflepuff. "Oh, hello." She said, trying to place a name to the familliar face, where had she seen her before? "Are you here to see the points?" She asked, looking from the Gryffindor glass, to the Hufflepuff, noticing that they were all fairly even.

Lily looked up at the glasses. The yellow gems stood out brightly from the dark wall. The houses were fairly even except for slytherin who was leading in house points, but not by much. "Yeah. I wanted to see who was leading." she said pausing. She turned her, "I'm Lily we've had a few classes together." she said.

"Oh right, Lilly..." Hermione said, she hadn't really stood out in her mind, so that was proabably why she has so easily missed her. "I just hope Slytherin doesn't win." She said, looking to the emerald hourglass, at least the distaste to one house, meant that she was proud to belong in another right?

"Me either." Lily said agreeing with Hermione. It was one thing that they were already snobbish and mean to everyone, last thing they need was for them to win the Quidditch cup or house cup. "but you guys have been winning for the past years recently.." Lily paused for a second, "Maybe it's time for Gryffindor to hand over the cup as well." she joked, a grin spreading on her face. Hopefully Hermione wouldn't find it offensive.

Hermione smiled at the comment, "Oh please, I would love for another house to win the cup! I'm not really a Quidditch fan, it becomes quiet grating hearing about how bloody good the team is all the time." She said through a laugh. "Are you on the Quidditch team?" She asked, she didn't really know who was on the Gryffindor team, let alone any other houses.

Lily laughed, "I guess I'm the opposite of you. I love qudditch and I'm a chaser for the dear old puffies." she replied. She wondered who would be on the ther houses teams after all eachyear it chnges ever so slightly. Sometimes for the better sometimes for the worst.

"Oh, thats great." Hermione said, nodding a approval of both her girl power and bravery, "I am always to scared to get up on a broom." She said with a nervous laugh. "How is your team looking this year? Because I support any team thats not Slytherin."

"It's coming along.. We still haven't had the first practice of the year but hopefully soon we can start training." Melissa said as she nodded her head. She hoped her team would do better this year.
"I actually admire you for your intellectual skills. I've always wondered how you were able to study do much!" Melissa exclaimed. She always had gotten bored when she needed to study, which explained some of her lousy grades at times.

Hermione smiled, at last... Something she was good at! "I just thirst for knowledge. I think it all started when I received my Hogwarts letter, I just felt like I had to learn everything I could about this whole new world... And well I guess I just never stopped learning." She said.

"That's great!" Melissa said, she of of course studied to become something great int he world but sometimes she just couldn't keep up. "What are you planning on being when you graduate?" she asked. Melissa had two things in mind so if one didn't work hopefully the other one would.
